Description
Dr. Neville is a clinical psychologist who joined ABCD in 2013. He began his own private practice in 2001, prior to which he worked at the Center on Human Development and Disability, providing clinical services and conducting research. His approach to psychotherapy is generally cognitive-behavioral, but integrates mindfulness and interpersonal perspectives, and draws from the latest knowledge in neuroscience. He provides biofeedback and neurofeedback to people who need help learning to self-regulate, which is often the case with anxiety and ADHD, as well as other problems such as mood disorders and headaches. He also has equipment to provide virtual reality exposure therapy for people with specific phobias. All of these approaches involve learning to become aware of your patterns of thinking, feeling and interacting, and finding alternatives to these patterns which allow new learning. He works with children, adolescents, and adults who have a variety of problems, with a particular interest in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and anxiety. Different age groups require adjustments to the developmental level of the client.
Dr. Remmers was born and raised in the Seattle area. After graduating from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, she left Seattle to complete a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. She then returned to Seattle and obtained her medical degree in 2006. Following this, she completed both a general psychiatry residency and a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship through the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital. Dr. Remmers joined ABCD in September, 2011. She has experience in assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults with a broad range of emotional and behavioral difficulties, and has a particular interest in treatment of anxiety disorders and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Dr. Remmers employs both psychotherapy and the use of medications, when indicated, for the treatment of emotional and behavioral disorders.
