What is the $.99 FCC-Imposed PICC Fee & Regulatory Assessment Fee?This monthly charge is a combination of two fees: The first is the Pre-subscribed Inter-exchange Carrier Charge (PICC), which is imposed by the Telecommunications Act of 1996. This allows the recovery of costs associated with long distance access through the local phone network. The second is the Regulatory Assessment Fee, which allows the recovery of expenses associated with interstate access charges and regulatory compliance and proceedings. How can I ensure that my payment is processed correctly? The best way to ensure that your payment is processed correctly is by submitting your check along with the account's remittance slip (which tears off the bottom of the front page of the monthly billing statement). If you have lost your remittance slip, please include your telephone service account number (located on top right-hand corner of monthly billing statement), service address (located on the top right-hand corner of monthly billing statement), and "UA" identification number (located on bottom right-hand corner of monthly billing statement). If a check payment has been sent in without proper supplementary customer account information, there is a possibility that the payment could be misapplied.What is the Service Provider Number Portability Fee?This fee is a FCC approved fee (FCC Docket CC 95-116), which may allow you to keep your phone number if you change your service provider and allows recovery of costs associated with upgrading the phone network for that purpose.
