The architectural office, Adams, Eisenhower and Meckley, Inc., (AEM Architects) was formed in 1974 by the merger and incorporation of two of the leading architectural offices practicing in the Reading area, Elmer H. Adams & Associates founded in 1932, and Carl A. Eisenhower founded in 1936. Marlan J. Meckley joined Carl Eisenhower's practice in 1958. In 1985, Mr. Meckley assumed active management of AEM Architects. In 2000, Architects Thomas P. Kase and Philip Leinbach, as well as Business Manager Peter A. Meckley ascended to partners of the firm.
