Representative Mark Pocan officially opens the AIDS Network Dental Clinic, September 27, 2010. The WMTV video is available here . Grand Opening of AIDS Network Dental Clinic At noon on Monday, September 27, Representative Mark Pocan (D-Madison) will cut the ribbon officially opening this new dental care facility. The 1,357 square foot clinic is located adjacent to AIDS Network's offices at 600 Williamson Street in Madison. The dental clinic began operation about six weeks ago under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Wilton, DDS, and provides education, restorative and preventive dental care to HIV-positive people who reside in Wisconsin. "We're thrilled to have this wonderful new facility," said AIDS Network Executive Director Karen Dotson. "Before, our clients often had to wait months or travel to Milwaukee to receive care. Good oral health care is especially essential to the well-being of HIV positive people." The clinic was made possible by a grant in the Governor's last capital budget and funds from DHS. Much of the equipment was donated from multiple sources. "We have so many people to thank who helped us make this dream a reality," continued Dotson. "We hope many of them will be on hand at our grand opening to tour the facility and see just how wonderful it is. We are especially grateful to Representative Pocan and Governor Doyle for their help and support." AIDS Network is the state designated HIV/AIDS service organization in southern Wisconsin. In their 25th year serving our community, the nonprofit also provides case management, prevention, legal, food pantry, and other support services, as well as partners with valuable providers for medical and housing services. ACT 8, The Wisconsin AIDS Ride was another big success--the eight rides to date have raised over $2.2 million--and we're already making plans for next year's bike ride, August 4 - 7, 2011. You can reACT or register to participate on the official ACT website. Congratulations to longtime AIDS Network volunteers Cass Marie Downing and Woody Carey for winning awards at this year's Outreach Annual Dinner on September 24.
