The APA features some of the strongest powerlifters on the planet including Gary Heisey who performed a historical all time deadlift record of 925 pounds. Heiseys record stayed in the books longer than any other "all time" deadlift in the history of our sport. Our International arm is the WPA and some of our events have taken place in Germany, England, Yugoslavia, Singapore, Jamaica, Canada and other countries. Our Canadian Sister federation (CPA) is very active and APA lifters may participate in most Canadian meets and vice-versa. President of the CPA is Marcel St. Laurent.
