Company founded
1978
A Woman's Place was founded in 1977 by a group of local men and women who recognized the need for intervention for victims of domestic violence in our area. Initially, AWP consisted of a crisis hotline (the same number that we have today) but it was clear that the needs within our community were for a safe house. In 1978, AWP became a non-profit. The shelter is a donation of an older home by the Greeley Urban Renewal Authority. The shelter opened its doors in 1981. A renovation/addition completed in 2003 doubled the size of our shelter. AWP offers universal access accomodations for clients with disabilities.
