Established in 2004, the AABC Commissioning Group (ACG) is a non-profit association of commissioning companies whose fundamental principles include independence, certification, and training and education. Companies that meet the requirements of ACG membership are joined by a community of professionals dedicated to providing the best service while advocating the independence of firms providing commissioning services.

The CxA may delegate that responsibility to an independent third party with field experience in the testing and analysis of equipment and systems, who becomes part of the commissioning team. This arrangement is especially desirable when the commissioning authority does not have significant experience and expertise with field testing of the equipment and systems to be commissioned.

All members must be independent of general and installing contractors, manufacturers of equipment or system components, or other entities that could affect the ability of the member to render an independent commissioning report.
