Description

The Aberdeen Development Corporation was formed in 1955 by five civic minded citizens: Bernard F. Martin, Robert F. Gorder, N. P. Wenge, Henry J. Schmitt, and Chester Lind. In November of that year, the Articles of Incorporation were approved by the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce. Later they were filed with the Secretary of State in Pierre and on December 5, 1955, the application to operate as a private corporation was approved by Secretary Geraldine Ostroot. The Aberdeen Development Corporation began developing properties in the early 1960's.

Chris Haar , Interim Executive Vice President, has knowledge of state of the art technology and is invaluable in the creation and operation of the Smart Center. Chris works with individuals and businesses across the nation in setting up teleconferences, consulting with them and, of course, working with visiting companies considering Aberdeen for their new home. Some of the most significant companies include 3M, BAE Systems, Midstates Printing, TCF Aerovent, Banner Engineering Corp. and Hub City, Inc.

The Aberdeen Development Corporation was founded in 1955 by a group of visionaries who recognized the need to entice new businesses and industry to the Aberdeen area.

Mark has extensive board experience and has served on the Board of Directors of the South Dakota Corn Growers, the American Coalition for Ethanol, the Renewable Fuels Association, the Ethanol Producers and Consumers, the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
