The mission of ActiveParishioner.com is to serve as an online Catholic information center providing resources to help people bridge the gap between our Catholic faith and our daily lives. ActiveParishioner.com is a resource for lay and ordained Catholics and for others interested in the Catholic tradition. Why the name Active Parishioner? The Catholic faith is so much deeper and richer than what we can experience in an hour on Sundays. Yet, in our busy lives, it's easy to not think about our faith as we go about our work, our studies and our leisure activities the rest of the week. God doesn't give up on us easily, however. Sometimes when we take a moment to pause and reflect, we realize that something deeper is still missing from our lives. In 1999, the US Bishops issued a pastoral plan for adult faith formation called "Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us." In this statement, the bishops highlighted six dimensions that are key to being an adult Catholic. These are: - Know your faith - Participate actively in the liturgy - Make good decisions in your life - Pray - Participate actively in community life - Reach out to others Following these themes, the Active Parishioner website seeks to help individuals continue to deepen their faith by providing resources in these key areas.
