Shelton, WA (August 13, 2010) — ADAGE, a biopower joint venture formed between AREVA and Duke Energy, today announced that it has signed its first long-term biomass fuel supply agreement for the Mason County project with Green Diamond Resource Company, which owns and manages timberland in the immediate area. "The sustainable long-term supply of forest biomass, which is critical to the success of our advanced biopower business, is what attracted ADAGE to Mason County," said ADAGE President Reed Wills. "By signing this agreement with Green Diamond Resource Company, we are a key step closer to delivering the jobs and renewable energy potential of forest energy in Mason County." Under the terms of the agreement, a portion of the total woody biomass requirements for the ADAGE Mason County facility will be filled using wood residuals left after harvest operations on Green Diamond land. Removal of material will be supervised by Green Diamond foresters to ensure compliance with Washington forest practices regulations and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Standard
