Founded in 1927 by the legislature, the State Bar of California is an administrative arm of the California Supreme Court. All lawyers practicing in California must be members of the State Bar.

Products Liability involves design or manufacturing defects in a product that causes injury. It can be any product, such as appliances, lawn mowers, tools, toys, motor vehicles, tires, food or drugs. Anyone in the distribution chain of the product is a potential defendant, including the manufacturer, component manufacturer, wholesaler or retailer. A person injured by a product need not be the owner of the product to sue for products liability. Potential defenses include improper or unintended uses, or if the product was substantially changed from the time of original manufacture.
