ADAPT was founded in 1975 as a sheltered workshop. Since then the program has expanded in a wide array of services and program. We primarily serve individuals who reside in Branch and St. Joseph Counties. ADAPT currently has approximately 250 full time employees. ADAPT is a non-profit, fully tax exempt organization that is governed by a Board of Directors. ADAPT has been fully accredited by CARF since 1976 and the agency is a member of Michigan Assisted Living Association and the Michigan Association of Rehabilitation Agencies. The purpose of ADAPT is to provide residential, community inclusion, clubhouse, case management services, and/or vocational training and work experience. ADAPT serves individuals with developmental disabilities, persons with mental illness, and persons in need of vocational skills and employment. It is the desire of this organization to assist individuals in maximizing their growth and becoming as self-sufficient as possible. ADAPT, Incorporated serves adults with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness in Branch and St. Joseph Counties. Funding for program participation is typically provided by the county Community Mental Health (CMH) agency. Adapt strives to personalize programs to individual needs and desires (person-centered), within the scope of services offered through the program. Admission to any Adapt program is a decision made cooperatively by a team of people, including the prospective Consumer, the Family/Guardian, the (CMH) Case Manager/Support Coordinator, the appropriate Program Supervisor, and the Coordinator of Community-Based Services.
