Adkins Development Corporation was formed in June, 1999 to support the development of Shipley Do-Nut franchise locations in Texas. Our relationship with the Shipley Do-Nut Franchise Company, based in Houston, Texas goes back to 1992. In 1992, Mr. Calvin Adkins and Mr. Phillip Adkins approached Mr. Lawrence Shipley, Jr. about a franchise opportunity. The conversation resulted in one of the most rapid franchise location development stories in the history of the Shipley Franchise System. Over the past 14 years, the ADC Franchise Group has now grown to sixteen locations covering the Central Texas area, with three more stores scheduled for the next year. The opportunities for Shipley Do-Nut growth even in Texas are numerous. Since 1936, the Shipley family has presided over one of the most loved brands ever to grace the Texas landscape. Still, the number of cities in Texas where there is a lacking of the Shipley brand is bad news for Texans wanting a great donut. Mr. Calvin Adkins has been involved continuously in the development of the Shipley Do-Nut franchise locations throughout the past fourteen years. Mr. Adkins is President of Adkins Development Corporation. Mr. Adkins has extensive experience in business going back to 1970 when he retired from the U.S. Air Force and began a new career as a Jack-in-the-Box franchisee in Houston, Texas. The experience as a franchisee for over five years served him well as he continued his business development with many other concepts and ventures. Mr. Adkins has owned a variety of start up businesses which gives him a unique perspective when discussing the opportunities which come from a Shipley Do-nut Franchise ownership. Mr. Phillip Adkins has been involved continuously in the development of the Shipley Do-Nut franchise locations throughout the past fourteen years. Mr. Adkins has been in business as a Franchisee for over these past 14 years and serves as Vice-President, Franchise Development for Adkins Development Corporation. Mr. Adkins is committed to the idea that the Shipley Do-Nut concept represents a unique opportunity for anyone interested in a high growth brand that can compete with any concept currently in the marketplace regardless of the market chosen. Mr. Adkins is a graduate of the University of Houston, Houston, Texas with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. Over the past thirty years, Mr. Adkins has been involved in two restaurant concepts, two retail concepts and held a sales management position with a Fortune 500 service company. ADC has high expectations for the growth of the Shipley Do-Nut brand as we move forward into new markets. We have identified over eight markets in Texas which hold great promise as new markets for multi-store ownership.
