Description

Adsco Engineering For over 124 years Adsco has been designing expansion joints for almost every conceivable application. Designing an expansion joint presents challenges not usually seen in most other areas of engineering. For example, when designing a bellows style expansion joint, the bellows element is constructed of a relatively thin gage material in order to provide flexibility that is needed to absorb mechanical and thermal motions in a pipe system, while still containing the internal pressure.

Company History In 1877 the American District Steam Company (ADSCO) designed and built the country's first district heating system in Lockport, New York. To compensate for thermal expansion of distribution piping conveying steam, Adsco engineers invented the first expansion joint. Since 1877 Adsco has grown to become one of the leading suppliers of expansion joints with customers around the globe. Over a century of product development evolved into today's line of expansion joints.

Adsco Expansion Joints Backed by over 124 years of extensive experience designing and manufacturing expansion joints, Adsco has the knowledge and expertise needed to design and manufacture expansion joints that will perform as required in your application. Below are several expansion joints that we designed and manufactured. For a complete overview of the products and services we offer, please follow the navigation links on the left.

Corruflex® Packless Expansion Joints Adsco Corruflex® expansion joints are designed based on over 124 years of engineering experience. Designing bellows style expansion joints presents the design engineer with challenges not faced with most other engineered products. The most significant of these is the design of the bellows. Bellows are unique in that, unlike springs, most of their deflections produce bending stresses in excess of the materials' yield strength.

Fabric-Master "FM" Expansion Joints Adsco's Fabric-Master "FM" expansion joints are designed to provide long maintenance free service over a wide range of applications. Two types of expansion belts are used in the construction of Adsco's Fabric Master "FM" expansion joints. An elastomeric design is used for temperatures up to 600°F. These are constructed by placing sheets of either EPDM, Chlorobutyl, Viton, or Fluoroplastic over fiberglass cloth and vulcanizing at high temperature and pressure to form a homogeneous and strong flexible belt. Single or double ply designs are available.
