Adventist Health System (AHS) is part of a tradition that began promoting the benefits of good health more than a century ago. In 1866, the Seventh-day Adventist Church opened its first healthcare center in Battle Creek, Michigan. It was a special place where scientific treatment of disease was combined with education in the prevention of disease--a tradition that continues in Adventist healthcare today.
