Founded in 1998 by Dawn Repola, Aegis has, from its inception, developed deep scientific and medical expertise in-house. Where other companies typically hired out this expertise, Aegis took a novel approach that has built a lasting and unique business.

Our client was undertaking a major strategic effort to improve the integration and analysis of data describing the location, burden, and transmission of various diseases—a process known as biosurveillance. Historically, data reporting was fragmented and siloed, and available data sets were often inconsistent, outdated, and incomplete. The foundation saw an opportunity to use emerging technologies to provide a more robust, timely, and predictive description of global burden of disease that would ultimately improve the global health community’s approach to disease treatment and prevention.

The first thing our little voice asks is “Are you going to help me or hurt me?” I don’t mean physically. It probably shows up like “Will working with you help me keep my job or will you put my job in jeopardy?” or “Are you going to get me fired or make me look like a rock star?” or the ultimate “Will I look like a fool for working with you or not?” For the most part we make this decision within the first few minutes of a conversation—every conversation. So always have an answer for this question.

Dr Tanya Russell, PhD, joined Aegis this month as a medical writer. She has extensive experience in breast cancer research and recently finished a postdoctoral fellowship in the Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Colorado Denver, where she has been since 2008. Tanya has received several awards and recognition for her scientific research, and she has many published works. Welcome, Tanya!

Our client came to us seeking to develop a new and compelling speakers bureau program for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This was a high-profile project that required intense collaboration with top thought leaders, complex project management and coordination, and above all the ability to develop highly scientific content.
