The American Institute of Architects Golden Empire Chapter (AIAGE) is a non-profit, professional association of licensed architects, architectural interns, and allied professionals in Bakersfield and Kern County. We are a component of The American Institute of Architects (AIA). With more than 70,000 members, the AIA is the collective voice of the architectural profession. The AIA comprises some 300 component organizations such as AIAGE across the country and around the world to serve the needs of U.S. architects at the national, state, and local levels, including American architects working in foreign locales. Together, architects have a strength that is impossible to achieve as individuals. AIAGE is the local connection to others in and affiliated with the profession. AIAGE is the grassroots effort that provides a forum for sharing information, ideas, and resources. Chapter boundaries include the following communities: Arvin, Bakersfield, Buttonwillow, California City, China Lake, Delano, Frazier Park, Inyokern, Lake Isabella, Lebec, Lost Hills, Maricopa, McFarland, Mettler, Mojave, Oildale, Ridgecrest, Rosamond, Shafter, Taft, Tehachapi, and Wasco. Through seminars, committees, lectures, and other chapter programs, our members exchange professional experiences and knowledge. The Axis Journal, the chapter newsletter, and the AIAGE Online! website are designed to inform the membership and general public of the chapter's activities and to encourage involvement in the AIA.
