Description

Every West Hollywood Memorial Walk Plaque donation is used to provide funding for the pivotal services that Aid For AIDS (AFA) provides to people living with HIV/AIDS. As Los Angeles County’s oldest and largest provider of financial assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS, AFA helps thousands of clients each year pay for rent, utilities, food, and pharmaceutical needs when they are threatened by homelessness and the financial crises a health condition often causes.

The agency was founded in 1983 by a small group of friends to help others in the community devastated by AIDS. AFA is a resilient non-profit that has grown into the premier service provider of financial assistance and other support to persons impoverished and disabled by HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County. Among those early directors of the organization was gay and lesbian civil rights activist Morris Kight.
