Welcome to AIM AIM is an Early Intervention Program for babies and toddlers who are experiencing developmental delays. These children are referred via the San Andreas Regional Center . AIM has been providing services to infants and their families since 1974. We currently have 18 staff and provide service to 100/120 families per year. Over the past 30 years we have grown enormously, not only in size but also in program and staff development, expertise and disciplines, and technological capabilities. We have also enjoyed a great improvement of our physical environment through a Capital Campaign and many donations. The AIM Programs are based on the premise that children can achieve a higher level of competency through parent participation, parent education and an individual curriculum based on typical child growth and development. Any child between the ages of birth and 3 years may be eligible for Early Start services through an assessment and intake process that you may initiate by calling 1-800-515-BABY for an agency near you or on the web at www.dds.ca.gov/EarlyStart . If you have concerns about the development of your infant or toddler you may also contact, your health care provider, local school district, regional center, or family resource center. AIM staff work as an Interdisciplinary Team in a play-based environment. It is a proven fact that all children learn from play and exploration. Our curriculum includes, language development, cognitive development, decision making, emotional growth, self help skills, social interaction, sensory-motor learning and neuromuscular development. This is all provided in a child friendly, play-based atmosphere, where each child is considered an individual with his/her own strengths and areas of focus. AIM is funded by the Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDS) through the Regional Center system. The State sets our rate and provides rules and regulations we must follow. The Early Intervention Services we provide are mandated by federal law, IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and, in California, by the Lanterman Act. Both of these laws entitle your child and you to certain services paid for by your tax dollar. AIM is a nonprofit corporation which allows us to accept donations. Donations and Fund Raising activities are extremely important to enhancing the services we provide. The State-set rate we receive does not begin to cover the quality or standards of service AIM adheres to, therefore we rely heavily on private donations.
