Description
AireSmith, Incorporated specializes in the following whole house design. A whole house system consists of: -Air Ductwork (the delivery system from your air-conditioning and heating equipment) -Air conditioning and heating mechanical equipment. It is like a 3-legged stool, if one of these legs is not matched or not compatible, then the stool or your comfort suffers. This is why we take the whole house approach when talking with the customers about their air conditioning and heating needs. In past years or the old way, we use to look at what your home had previous, and then made recommendations based on how you told us it worked. If it did not work great in the middle of the summer, then we would recommend a bigger system, with old efficiency ratings and lower cost utilities this seems to work. It always seemed odd that no one would brag about his or her new equipment. Today, new equipment, new building materials, cable TV, Internet, and video games seem to keep people indoor more. New building materials and energy saving techniques cause structures to be tighter and require smaller air conditioning and heating systems. We find older homes have a considerable amount of air changes. Our testing uncovers homes that experience 2-5 times more air changes a day then recommended by the National Ventilation standards. What is this? Humans have to have fresh supply of oxygen to live. Most homes leak enough to achieve this, but most of the leaks come from the attic, crawl spaces, and garages. These areas normally have bad air that usually contains a lot of things that will affect allergies and humidity levels. So, we are spending more time in our homes, most likely breathing air that is not 100% fresh (like outside air) and have humidity problems. The new equipment today is very sensitive to over sizing. Over sizing of air-conditioning and heating equipment actually increases these problems. This is why today we take the whole house approach. If we only came out and replaced the same size (tons) as your old one and did not look at your delivery system or how many air changes you had, we could over or undersize your equipment. Delivery systems (ductwork) are like your veins and arteries coming from your heart. If one or more of these are not big enough, your health will suffer. Like we said, if you do not get the right amount of airflow to rooms as you are supposed to, then your comfort level will suffer. Air Changes When your home was built, an engineer most likely designed the air conditioning and heating system for it. During the design and engineering you need to know how much air leakage there is. Most new structures are tight, right? Well over the years the house settles, insulation R-values drop, windows start leaking and ducts start leaking, etc. What you really have is a house that was designed with very low air leakage, but actually have a very leaky house and didn't even know it. Since it has been several years you think, why is this old air-conditioning not keeping me cool enough and using so much electricity. Well in fact it may be these other components that are contributing. Most new homes built today use a sub contractor to install the air-conditioning and heating system. They are most likely designed well, but the sub contractor subs out the ductwork part. This sub is usually paid by the job. Their importance is how many jobs a day can I do, not did I do it correctly. The original air-conditioning contractor does not come back and test to make sure your new system is producing what it is capable of. You have to do this, then call if it does not seem like it is working. You assume they did it right. This is another reason we take the whole house approach. When it is time to replace your equipment we want you to end up with the best system possible, that will also save you the most it can on utilities, deliver the correct capacities and remove the right amount of humidity. We perform an industry standard manual J heat load heat loss calculation first. We inspect your structure (either visually or with a infiltrometer) we measure your airflow out of your existing system. We then compile all of this information and develop several money saving solutions for you to choose from. You might say, "Does all this take a long time?" It is a lot of work, but remember this is an investment in our home and family. Once the work is done, you live with it every month. You also pay your utility company every month. So, I would ask you, do you think it is worth the time to have the most experience company testing, designing, installing, and servicing your home? Remember, the contractor you pick to replace your system will decide how much your utility bill is every month. Our technicians and installers complete 100 hours each year of training. This keeps them up to date on new systems as well as older ones.
