Akron Chemical Company was founded in 1929 by J. Robinson (Bob) Silver, Jr. as a proprietorship. It was incorporated in the State of Delaware in January, 1930. Several years later it was Re-Incorporated in Ohio, also as Akron Chemical Company. In 1988, the name was changed to AKROCHEM Corporation to more correctly express the national and international nature of the Company's business. Akrochem Corporation (fka Akron Chemical Company) is privately owned by the Silver Family.

By 1960, two of Bob Silvers sons, Dick and Bruce were involved in the company. As the rubber industry changed and more and more customers located plants in other parts of the country, personnel were added to meet those needs and the growing needs of the business. Additionally, the need by our customers for new and more critical applications grew. In 1971, the organization established a "Value Added" business in a building owned by Akrochem, at the Fountain St. location. This new company named Revlis Corporation (Silver spelled backwards), made the products we sold more user friendly.

In the following years, other manufacturers, such as the Hooker Electro Chemical Company and the J.M. Huber Corporation, also appointed the company as their sales representatives in this area. As Akron Chemical Company began to sell a much more varied group of products, many of which were not required to be supplied in full truckloads or carloads directly from the manufacturing plant, new quarters were required and the Company moved to a location with a warehouse and railroad siding on North Case Avenue in Akron. Additional sales and office personnel were also employed.

Included with its product literature and upon the request of its customers, Akrochem provides product specifications and evaluations, suggested formulations and recommendations and other technical assistance, both orally and in writing (collectively the "technical Information"). Although Akrochem believes all Technical Information to be true and correct, it makes no warrant, either express or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of the Technical Information for any intended use, or the results which may be obtained by any person using the Technical Information.

Akrochem decided to build a new and completely modern Distribution Center in order to provide sufficient space and the most modern of facilities for the storage and shipment of our products. Thus, our 85,000 square foot Stow Distribution Center was built on Hudson Drive in Stow, Ohio in 1993.
