Description
The Akron News-Reporter was created 97 years ago, in 1910. Sadly, a fire destroyed all publications between 1913 and 1931. Still, that leaves a lot of Washington County history. The paper is owned and published by the Eastern Colorado Publishing Company. The company publishes the Brush News-Tribune, the Sterling Journal Advocate, the Fort Morgan Times, the Burlington Record, the Julesburg Advocate, the Lamar Daily News, the Broomfield Enterprise, the Estes Park Trail-Gazette and the Daily Camera in Boulder as well. The Eastern Colorado Publishing Company was formed by a partnership of the E.W. Scripps Company and the MediaNews Group, Incorporated The Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News are also owned by the MediaNews Group. It s not always easy getting a paper out each week, and there have been a few times in the Akron News-Reporter s history when it didn t look like it would even happen! In a job where any little error or mistake is printed and read by thousands, stress levels can run a bit high. The employees at the paper really do care, and really do strive for quality.
