Founded in 1955 as the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), the organization officially changed its name in 2002 to ASIS International. This new name preserves the organization's history while better reflecting the growth and expansion of the society to 38,000 members around the world, representing all facets of the security profession. ASIS International is comprised of more than 37,000 security management professionals worldwide.
