But in 2004, they switched their OEM manufacturer to Pilkington, so you know that both PPG and Pilkington are trusted manufacturers by Ford and could provide you with a windshield like the one you already have (pre-crack of course). In order to keep things simple, let’s assume that PPG and Pilkington are the only windshield manufactures available.

All of this being said, it is time to address one important FAQ: In order to get the highest quality windshield for my vehicle, should I buy it from the dealership? Not necessarily. If you buy your windshield directly from the dealership you will be getting Original Equipment Manufacturer glass (OEM) glass which is the exact piece of glass that came in the vehicle straight from the factory. That sounds like exactly what you might want, but here is why it doesn’t necessarily matter: Car Manufacturers may change who they use as their OEM windshield manufacturer from year to year.
