Primary Instructors Ted Kern PADI Instructor #158455 SDI Instructor #6990 Ted was first introduced to scuba diving at the age of 7, when family friends in East Texas entertained him for a week by strapping a tank to his back and throwing him into a pool. From there it took him 9 years to convince his mother to let him get certified, which he did in 1982. His love for the sport and lack of money at the time, prompted young Ted to get a part time job in a dive store, where he spent all of his paychecks on diving equipment. That is also when Ted bought his first underwater camera and began capturing all the incredible creatures in the ocean on film. Following several years of diving Ted found the only way to re-live that unbelievable feeling of being able to breathe underwater for the first time was to watch others take their first breath from a scuba tank. So in 1999 Ted became an instructor and has enjoyed teaching students of all levels from Open Water up to Dive Master. Ted is rated to teach a number of specialties that include: Boat Diving, Nitrox, Computer, U/W Video, U/W Photo, Drift Diving, Marine Ecosystems Awareness, Rescue, Night and Buoyancy. Ted has also developed an interest in diving medicine and physiology due to his background in medicine. Ted is a physical therapist full-time during the work week, and is part owner of two physical therapy clinics in the Dallas area. Over many years Ted and his wife, Pam, have traveled throughout most of the Caribbean and documented their travels both on film and video. In 2000 Ted switched from still photography to videography because of the enticing challenges that underwater videography posses. Ted truly enjoys showing others how to document their vacations on land and underwater and then edit the footage down to a short film to share with others. Brent Anderson SDI Open Water Instructor #8069 PADI Dive Master #175044 Brent spent most of his summers as a kid in the pool, learning to swim like a fish and pretending to find ship wrecks full of sunken treasure. He was fascinated by movies like “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” and “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea,” as well as every James Bond film that featured the underwater world. The love of movies led to a career as a professional actor and script writer; the love of the sea led to scuba. Brent learned to dive in 1991, but circumstances prevented him from experiencing the joy of blue water until 1995, on his first trip to Grand Cayman. What an amazing adventure! As he swam with sea turtles, tarpon, and sting rays, all that he had imagined from watching movies and television over the years came to life before his eyes. From that point on he knew he wanted to expand his diving, and find a way to help others enjoy this incredible undersea world. Brent became a PADI Dive Master in 2001, an SDI instructor in 2003, and is available to conduct classes from Open Water up to Assistant Instructor. His dive travels have taken him to the Caribbean, Mexico, and the Pacific Coast, and he considers his Yucatan Cenote (underwater caverns) Diver certification as one of his favorites.
