Description

Alpen Gardens is a family owned dahlia business. Alpen Gardens originated in Kalispell Montana by Bill and Lois McClaren over 25 years ago. John and Carla Stables purchased the business in the Fall of 2004 and moved it to Gaston, Oregon. Bill McClaren still hybridizes several wonderful Alpen dahlias as new introductions each year. John and Carla started a greenhouse business named CJD Gardens in the Fall of 2000. Out of the greenhouse they sell annuals, perennials and cut flowers. John is a high school teacher at Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Oregon. He is an agriculture teacher with a technical education degree. He teaches horticulture, woodshop and welding. Carla works part-time at a the local hospital. her full time job is as a stay at home mom to two children. J.D. turned 6 last Fall and is in the first grade. Cydney will be five in February and is in Pre-School. Both children love to work with the dahlias. They help to plant the tubers, cut the flowers and mail the catalogs. They also enjoy playing hide and seek in the dahlia field. As always, we do our best to offer you top quality flowers. We grow over 400 varieties on about 3 acres of land. Due to inventory we do not list every variety for sale. If you are ever looking for something and do not see it, please let me know and we will do what we can to get it for you. We have a great line of new introductions, from top hybridizers, that are sure to look great in your garden and on the show bench. ...
