FDRsafety is a successful occupational safety and health consulting firm in Brentwood, Tennessee. It was founded in 1995 by Fred D. Rine, former managing director of safety at FedEx. FDRsafety relied on Fred’s many contacts, along with those of his partner, Jim Stanley, former No. 2 nationally at OSHA, to generate referrals for business. The company did little formal marketing until the recession hit in 2008-09 and business got significantly more competitive.

Mary Pollman has worked with clients in financial services, technology, healthcare and business services. She spent more than two decades managing marketing communications for insurance companies, including the life and long-term care division of CNA Insurance.

I suspect many readers of this blog had their own Miss Flynn. So why belabor the obvious? Well, the experience of several web developers we know indicates that perhaps it’s not so obvious. They constantly bemoan the difficulty they have in getting clients to provide content for their new sites. It frequently comes in at the last minute, often ragged and frequently betraying a lack of forethought.
