ALTA Alliance's President, Patricia McGrath, designed, co-founded and provided 20 years of executive leadership for the nationally recognized Puente Project. In 1998, the California-based program was named one of 10 winners of the Innovations in American Government Award sponsored by the Ford Foundation, Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government, and the Council for Excellence in Government. Based on research and evaluations of Puente, the ALTA Alliance consulting group has designed a new training program. It incorporates lessons they have learned through decades of experience as educators and trainers into a new approach that can be applied in other states, communities, and institutions to reach greater numbers of students.
