I've tried several different suspension seat posts over the years and they all seem very similar in how they feel. Is the NitroPro like the rest? No, The NitroPro is very different in how it operates, suspends the rider, and feels from other suspension seatposts. Up to now suspension seatposts have used elastomers, compressed air or coil springs to suspend the rider and absorb shock. To suspend the rider the spring (elastomers, compressed air or coil springs) must be strong therefore spring rates from 100 -160 lbs./in. are used. However strong spring rates reduce the responsiveness of the seatpost. NitroPro's nitrogen gas spring and progressive coil spring have a combined spring rate of only 35 lbs./in. There is simply no comparing the gas/coil spring shock absorbing ability to elastomers, air or coil springs. The gas spring incorporates a piston, cylinder, O rings, hydraulic fluid, a polished shaft, valving, seals, and nitrogen gas. Elastomers are mere solid round blocks of rubber that deform when compressed. What do you think would produce a softer dampened ride and be more tunable: a block of rubber or a finely tuned precision made oil dampened nitrogen gas spring? How do I adjust the NitroPro for my weight? All NitroPro's come with a gas spring designed specifically for your weight range, in addition there is a pre-load adjustment on the bottom of the post to fine tune the suspension to your riding style. Pre-load is easy to set using any flat blade screwdriver. The range of adjustment is +/- 15 pounds (total 30 lbs. range). Recommended gas springs for different weight riders.
