Attorney Alva Wesley-Thomas grew up in a small town near Longview, Texas, where people believed in hard work and family values. Ms. Thomas studied at Bates College of Law and Thurgood Marshall School of Law, receiving her Juris Doctorate in May 1982. Realizing from personal experiences and consultations with clients that financial hardship is not a respecter of persons, she began her law practice in the area of consumer bankruptcy in 1983 with a desire to help others. In addition to Ms. Thomas' private practice, she was employed by the Supreme Court of Texas for more than 20 years.
