Description

Alvernia competes under the auspices of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Crusaders compete at the Division III level, the largest competing level of the NCAA. Institutions with membership at this level do not provide athletic scholarships. The 2012-2013 year will be Alvernia's fourth year in the Commonwealth Conference of the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation, commonly known as the MAC.

The vision of the Alvernia University Department of Athletics & Recreation is to provide Alvernia student-athletes with an opportunity to compete in intercollegiate activities, as an integral part of their educational experience. The department will seek to attract a population of student-athletes who will succeed both academically and athletically. The department will provide a personalized learning environment with equitable participation opportunities for student-athletes to develop their leadership potential.

Alvernia University, Barley Snyder Attorneys at Law, Fulton Bank, Murphy McCormack Capital Advisors, ParenteBeard and Teleos Partners are proud to announce an exciting new venture – The Family Business Center at Alvernia University. This collaboration was created to meet the needs of the owners of family-owned businesses in Reading, Berks County and beyond through educational seminars offered throughout the year featuring nationally recognized speakers and advisors and drawing on the professional expertise of our sponsors and partners.

Our Franciscan mission influences all that we do – our curriculum and culture; what we teach and how we teach it. This creates a learning environment that encourages students to develop their individual gifts so as to transform themselves and the world around them. Core to our mission is the belief in the sanctity of creation and the protection of human rights through active participation in the economic, political, legal and social policy dialog that affects human dignity. Service, humility, peacemaking, contemplation, and collegiality are the core values of Alvernia.
