In 2001, the business was renamed Alwan and Sons Meat Company. At this time, the third generation of Alwans, who had worked in the family business since they were young, stepped up to run the operation and carry on the long tradition of top quality products and service. Brothers Pat and Joe Alwan Jr., along with their cousin Brian Alwan, currently stand proud as the owners of the business. And although at one time there were four Alwan’s grocery stores in the city, today there is only one Alwan and Sons Meat Company.

Alwan & Son Meat Company is proud to offer premier quality products without the high cost. We offer many specialty items that you can’t find anywhere else in Peoria. Outstanding Customer Service that you just don’t experience in the larger retail chain grocery markets is a common everyday occurrence at Alwans. Customers are our most valued asset. Anybody serious about good food knows that a shopping trip to Alwans is always well worth the trip… like it’s always been. Back in the 1950’s, we were known as the “beef people.” Today, we are proud to be known as the meat obsessed Alwan boys where we are keeping the legacy of one of America’s great meat markets alive right here in Peoria.
