Description
Amalgam started as a company by providing GIS services to rural communities located in central and northern Michigan, each with barriers that often limited or prohibited completely the benefits that GIS can bring to a community. Rural communities commonly lack the resources required to develop GIS programs and fund the maintenance and future growth of the system. Working with rural clients over seven years has provide Amalgam with a unique perspective. Building GIS programs that are to last for the long-term must leverage short-term benefits to quickly build awareness and support. Integrating GIS in rural communities demands patience and the vision to think beyond traditional concepts that simply are not effective in communities with limited resources. Amalgam has worked closely with rural clients to build long-term partnerships that foster collaboration and innovative solutions. Working with Gladwin County, Amalgam developed Fetch Fee Access as a web GIS solution that is self funding, and for Gladwin County this has also resulted in generating additional funding for parcel maintenance and future GIS development.
Amalgam offers client focused services that enable organizations to benefit from GIS technology. Our experience includes working with a range of clients, each offering unique data, personnel and technology assets. Amalgam works with clients to identify the most effective GIS integration strategy, or to further leverage its use within an organization. In each case our focus is on results that have clear cost benefit to our clients. Amalgam has worked with small business and global corporations developing GIS and technology solutions. Our work has included developing complex data, intranet Fetch GIS services, database development, applications, training and market analytics. Dave is a co-founder at Amalgam with key roles in many of the company's management activities. With nine years of experience working directly with GIS technology and applications, Dave has developed a keen eye for process and details that improve quality and end results. He is most comfortable getting his hands dirty, designing processes, quality controls, integrating efficiencies and rendering project tasks. His experience over a broad spectrum of projects, involved at every level from design to execution, has given him a unique perspective on the project lifecycle and the value of process, standards and consistency as key contributors to project success and client satisfaction. Dave approaches each project with consideration of all possible impacts and benefits to clients, identifying paths to exceed expectations. When he is away from the computer, Dave can often be found on a quiet river with a fly rod. He enjoys being outside and spending time with his family, including his two energetic dogs.
