With more than a century of experience, The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh is the leader in innovative and integrated health care, education, and social services for children and youth with special health care needs. We remain dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, young people and their families by providing a specialized continuum of services that enables them to reach their potential.
Many individuals and families, corporations and foundations make up The Children's Institute’s diverse community of giving. Thanks to the kindness of our amazing donors, The Children’s Institute was able to provide services to 5,800 children and families in fiscal year 2012. We gratefully acknowledge the individuals, corporations, foundations and organizations who together contributed funds in support of our amazing kids. The following is a list of donors who made contributions of annual support during the last fiscal year, July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012.
Events and programs at The Children’s Institute attract medical and education professionals, parents and caregivers of children with special needs, area school students and their parents, and more. Sponsorship of these events provides The Children’s Institute with unrestricted funds that help us meet pressing needs while providing a way to increase awareness of your company. Events and programs include (but are not limited to): Bright Spot on Shady – an event celebrating the founding of The Children’s Institute. This family and community-centered event is free and open to the public.
Our speech/language pathologists evaluate and treat infants through young adults with communication and/or functional feeding impairments. The treatment plan we develop may include augmentative communication therapy, which provides practical solutions and alternative forms of communication for children who are nonverbal or minimally verbal.
We provide a wide variety of services related to communication disorders and communication development, and the speech/language pathologist is the individual whose expertise supports and guides many of the diagnostic and educational services aimed at improving the communicative ability of our students.
