Collection companies such as ACC were founded to help businesses of all sizes with one of the most difficult tasks of owning and running a business; collecting unpaid bills. ACC has been in the business of collections for over 25 years and we’ve heard it all. We continue to apply our years of experience and proven methods to collect on those individuals or companies that refuse to pay their outstanding bill. Q: We prefer to work with a local collection agency in Chicago or the Chicagoland area. That’s perfect! ACC is centrally located in Schaumburg, IL. Many of our clients wanted a collection company located near them as well. Their reasons vary, but rest assured we communicate with you often. Q: What kinds of companies do you serve? We represent many businesses in the medical, retail and commercial sectors, including but not limited to healthcare, banking and utilities to name a few. Q: What forms of communication do you use to collect? We contact debtors with a wide variety of letters and live callers during days, evenings and weekends. We also contact the home, work and cell phone number if available. Once the process of contacting the debtor begins, it will remain continuous until the bill is paid, a payment plan is worked out or the dispute has been resolved. Q: When is it the best time to turn an account or claim over to ACC? The sooner the better. If your terms are 30 days or 60 days and the person or company has not paid, turn the account over to ACC’s collection experts at 90 days. We understand that you want to try to collect on the account prior to submitting the claim to ACC. However, it you cannot collect on the bad debt during its due date or a month or two afterwards, chances are the person or company has no intention on paying. Before the person or company gains confidence with non-payment, turn the claim over to ACC. If the claim is a skip or moves with no forwarding address and/or the phone is disconnected, send it to ACC right away before the trail goes cold. Q: How do I submit a claim for collections? Submitting a claim to ACC is easy. You can choose to submit the claim electronically through our secure website, fax the claims to a secure fax number or simply mail them in. Q: How can I check the status of a particular claim? Even though you get a monthly report, you may need to look up an account ASAP. That’s why we’ve developed a couple of ways for you to get your information prior to your monthly report. You can look up an individual or group of accounts online through our secure website or simply call ACC. We have a full customer service staff ready to help you and get the answers you need. Q: How often do I get a report on the status of my claims? You will receive a full report from ACC each month, or by special request, giving you the status of each account. You can receive this report electronically if over 50 claims are submitted or hard copy. Q: Do I have a contact person to discuss issues with at ACC? Absolutely. You are assigned a customer service person that is intimate with your claims and your company. If for some reason your customer service person is out that day, any one of our dedicated customer service staff can assist in answering your questions. Our customer service and collection staff meet weekly to discuss progress and issues. Q: What happens when you find someone that disputes the claim? There are many reasons claims are disputed. Sometimes the person we’re contacting to collect on the outstanding bill didn’t know that the insurance company didn’t pay 100% of the bill. There are times the person was unhappy with the product or service and refuses to pay, or they may not have the money available and monthly payments would be a perfect solution. There are also times where we need to take legal action. Whatever their reason, we work on the claims on a case by case basis to resolve the issue. Q: Can you mark credit? Yes, ACC is authorized to mark credit with the three national credit bureaus. Q: What are the benefits of marking credit? Marking credit goes on an individual’s credit report and remains on their report for 7 years. That means for the next seven years that person will have difficulty taking out any line of credit. ACC notifies the person numerous times prior to marking their credit to give that person every chance to pay the bill. They are fully aware of the actions ACC takes. Q: What collection organizations does ACC belong to? ACC is an active member of the Experian, Trans Union & Equifax Credit Information Bureaus, Illinois Collectors Association and American Collectors Association. ACC serves on the Board of Directors for the Illinois Collectors Association ensuring the ethics and rules of governance are legal and upheld. Q: Is ACC a licensed company in the State of IL? Yes, ACC has been licensed by the State of Illinois since 1981. Q: Is there a minimum claim amount? ACC is one of the very few collection agencies to accept claims as low as $50.00. Q: How does ACC get paid? ACC only gets paid when we collect on a claim. There are no hidden fees or charges. Q: Can you help us with legal services if necessary? If legal action is required our in-house administrator will assist in putting you in contact with a law firm that specializes in collections. Q: Do you track the number of attempts or contacts for each claim? We track every form of communication and how often that action was completed. You can ask to receive that report on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis.
