Description
AFM currently manages about 450,000 acres of forestland in Michigan and Northern Wisconsin. Our clients range in size from very small Family Forests to very large industrial landowners. Whether small or large, AFM offers the services that make sure the landowner’s objectives are being met. Those services include: Management Plans- In order to understand what the goals are for each landowner, AFM strongly recommends that the first step in forest management is to create a management plan. The primary goals may be aesthetics, wildlife, sustained and periodic income stream, long-term legacy, etc.
Trees and Development – We are very familiar with the varying City tree ordinances and protection regulations in the Puget Sound Region. We have successfully developed tree retention/protection plans in all surrounding cities, working with various clients that included architects, real estate developers and building contractors. We review construction plans with an eye toward expected and unexpected results of tree removal and retention. We provide sound recommendations and guidelines for successful tree preservation.
Roy Belser leads the effort to provide forest management services to timberland investment management organizations, non-industrial private forestland owners, trusts and forest products companies. Serving as Chairman and Director, Forest and Land Management group, he assists with the execution of business strategy, sales, marketing and client relations. Roy joined the firm in 1979 and became a partner in 1984. He has over 34 years of experience in forest management, timber marketing, timberland transactions and landowner relations .
Real Estate - specializes in the sale of land. For over 40 years, AFM has provided the services and tools needed for buyers and sellers to make informed decisions throughout the land sale or acquisition process.
We are experienced in conducting tree inventories for a wide range of uses. We have successfully completed city park and street tree inventories for several municipalities in the region. We develop inventory parameters specific to the client’s need with the assistance of our GIS department. We also inventory urban forests and green spaces which may include mapping and assessing forest health, understory vegetation, invasive species threats, sensitive areas and threatened species.
