History continued….our name: Our company name may sound a little silly, but the name “Red Ball” has its own history. At the beginning of the last century, before there was a trucking industry, our nation’s transportation needs were met with the railroad industry. At that time, railroad cars that carried “priority” cargo were identified with a red ball. As the trucking industry began to evolve, the founder of American Red Ball, Warn B. Hiner, used the symbol of that time to recognize priority cargo and applied it to the name of his new trucking company, American Red Ball Transit Co. American Red Ball has always and continues to treat every household goods shipment as “priority cargo” and it is this level of commitment to quality and customer service that is the foundation the company is built upon.

A history that is truly unique! American Red Ball Transit Co., Inc. is a legend in the moving industry. Founded in 1919 in Indianapolis, IN, American Red Ball is the first interstate moving company licensed by the Federal Interstate Commerce Commission. The company headquarters is still based in Indianapolis to this date, which is a testament to its longevity and stability.
