Description

Anderson Valley is a magical mix of grazing sheep, vineyards, orchards, oaks and redwoods that continue to amaze both visitors and residents. The scenic 25 mile drive from Yorkville to Navarro winds past livestock, apple orchards, olive groves, roadside stands selling fresh produce, vineyards and wineries surrounded by wooded hillsides. Many magazines have written about the incredible beauty of Anderson Valley and the abundance of locally grown fruits, grapes, vegetables and other produce that are nurtured in the small communities of Yorkville, Boonville, Philo and Navarro, during the spring and summer months. These communities are also home to some of the best award winning wineries, recognized throughout the world for pinot noir, chardonnay, sparkling wine, and zinfandel. Warm summer days and cool evenings along with the soil quality make Anderson Valley a fine grape and olive growing region. Take a meandering drive through the valley and stop along the way at the winery tasting rooms for some award winning wines and refreshing grape juices, or stop by and sample some traditionally brewed beer from the local brewing company. From the beginning of May through the end of October the Boonville Farmers Market functions as a hub for the local community to purchase home grown vegetables, berries, fruits, honey and olive oil, as well as local fresh fish, organic cheese and meat and excellent baked goods from local artisan bakers...
