It seems like just yesterday we were brushing snow off of the cars in the driveway! How quickly the summer months have flown by. The summer has been full of wonderful events beginning with my solo exhibition at the Southern Vermont Arts Center, in Manchester, VT. Of the sixteen paintings exhibited, eight sold during the show. It was truly wonderful to see so many of the paintings go to happy homes. Then came an outdoor painting class in Iowa where I enjoyed painting with friends and making several new friends. While I was considered the "teacher" I think I learned much from the wonderful. A week long trip to Nova Scotia was in perfect order for the summer. It was fantastic to have the opportunity to paint on the rugged shore line and I gathered much material for many paintings to come. I am pleased to have had one of my paintings included in the Regional Representational Painting Exhibition with the Guild of Boston Artists. In addition, I have work with the Bennington Center for the Arts with their shows, Impressions of New England, Small Works and Inspired by Nature. For more information see their web site, www.benningtoncenterforthearts.org . I will also have a painting on display with the National Exhibition of the American Impressionists Society as well as the 82nd Grand National Exhibition of the American Artists Professional League in New York, at the Salmagundi Club. Finally, this weekend was the North Bennington Plein Air Competition. Over 25 artists spent three days painting the picturesque scenery of North Bennington ending in an exhibition of approximately 100 paintings, created during the past three days, and held at the gallery of Taraden bed and breakfast. This year's juror was James Gurney an amazing painter from upstate New York and author and illustrator of the Dinotopia series. I am pleased to share with you that I was awarded the second place prize for my painting, Breaking Light, Mile Around Park. It has been an amazing summer indeed and I am looking forward to some more quiet time in October where I am sure I will find many beautiful scenes for inspiration. I continue with my blog; my journey as a Vermont painter. It primarily shows smaller work completed either plein air or in the studio and various ramblings and thoughts about the work.
