Founded in 1866, the ASPCA was the first humane organization in the Western Hemisphere. Our mission, as stated by founder Henry Bergh, is "to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States." The ASPCA works to rescue animals from abuse, pass humane laws and share resources with shelters nationwide.

Since Dr. Vonau has served as a relief surgeon for Animal Hospital Specialty Center, we don’t consider him “new” to our team. Under the guidance of our resident surgical specialist, Dr. Preston Stubbs, specialty surgery has grown substantially over the years to where we felt it necessary to hire Dr. Vonau on a premanent part-time basis to ensure the highest quality service and care to our patients and clients.
