Anthem was formed in April 2010 and currently has six full-time structural engineers with over 50 years of combined experience in structural engineering. We enjoy working on a wide variety of projects (including non-building projects) and are well versed in all types of structural systems including steel, aluminum, concrete, timber, and masonry. We also have experience with designing various structures developed in the Boulder Creek floodplain. We are familiar with the permitting process and the city’s requirements, as well as the city’s flood regulations.

Anthem, LLC is a structural engineering firm specializing in affordable, creative solutions to complex design problems utilizing the latest BIM and analysis technologies. We have experience with many types of building projects including mixed use buildings, flood-proofed structures, residential and commercial structures, parking garages, tenant finish and renovation work, K-12 and university educational facilities, industrial, and many other types of projects. We provide owners, architects, and contractors with quality customer service, pursuing the best solutions for the success of each project.

Currently licensed in California and Colorado, Chris has more than 5 years of experience in structural engineering, and has worked on a variety of projects, including custom homes, multi-family residential, assisted living buildings, K-12 and university educational facilities, recreation and park facilities, mixed-use buildings, solar power additions, and religious facilities. While most of his work has been in conventional wood or heavy timber construction, Chris is also experienced in concrete, masonry, and light gauge steel projects. Prior to completing his education Chris worked several years framing homes in Summit County. In his free time Chris enjoys mountain biking, rafting, skiing, watching lacrosse, and building with LEGO.

Derek’s design and project management experience with complex projects covers a wide range of project types, including residential and commercial structures, higher educational facilities, mixed-use structures, office buildings, senior living facilities, tenant finish, pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, PV support on existing structures, and structural assessment and repair reports regarding foundation stabilization techniques for residential and commercial buildings. Prior to receiving his engineering degree, Derek worked in the residential construction industry for 8 years. His hands-on construction experience has enabled him to produce rational, efficient design solutions, as well as allow him to respond effectively to construction issues. Derek has been practicing structural engineering since 2000 and is currently licensed in Colorado, Montana, and Idaho and is recognized as an industry expert in high-end residential design, timber frame, and log construction. His designs include single-family and multi-family residential buildings along Colorado’s Front Range and in the mountain resort communities, such as the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana.

Dan has more than 22 years of experience in structural engineering, and has handled a wide variety of projects, including on-call services for municipalities and counties, evaluations of existing structures, repair recommendations for damaged structures, pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, K-12 educational facilities, university facilities, mixed-use structures, tenant finishes, office buildings, PV support, religious facilities, and courthouses. Dan is also a Certified Floodplain Manager with experience designing flood-proof structures in the floodplain, including 1095 Canyon Boulevard and 1155 Canyon Boulevard mixed-use structures located in the Boulder Civic Area. Dan developed much of this expertise working for many years on the East coast, and moved to Colorado in 2005 to pursue the many outdoor activities offered by the state such as skiing, mountain biking and road biking.
