The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety in the workplace, 2009 Edition is recognized by OSHA as the Minimum Standard for electrical safety. This standard has a number of new requirements for employers to comply with including arc flash and arc blast hazard training, hazard analysis, safety policy reviews, equipment labeling, communications, maintenance and many others. Arc Flash is defined as the result of rapid release of energy due to an arching fault between a phase bus bar and another phase bus bar, neutral or a ground.
