ENERGY - Feng Shui (pronounced fung schway) is an ancient Chinese practice devoted to working with the energy (Chi) of our surroundings. Our surroundings include everything from the land we live on to the painting we have hanging over the mantel. Feng Shui literally means wind and water and it was so named because air and water are the bare necessities for life to exist. By studying and analyzing the Chi of all things in our environment Feng Shui comes to conclusions about the benefit or non-benefit we may be receiving from such energy. We can then adjust and enhance these environments to create the benefit we are seeking. ALL THINGS ARE CONNECTED - Feng Shui is grounded in the belief that all things are connected, all things have energy, and that this energy is constantly changing. Many other cultures and traditions believe in the connection and oneness of all things. The native American Indians strived to live in harmony with the land, and in living in harmony, the land provided them with all their needs. Our current environmental movements are grounded in a similar philosophy; that if we take care of the earth, the earth will take care of us. THE PRACTICE OF BLESSING - Feng Shui is the practice of taking care of and nurturing our environment so that we may in turn be nurtured.
