In a typical stand, only a very small percentage of trees possess the ideal traits preferred by growers and customers. These Elite Pine trees are most likely to produce offspring that will exhibit similar ideal traits. However, not all seeds from an Elite Pine tree will produce trees similar to the parent. This is where ArborGen makes a difference. Part of our unique expertise is in our ability to identify and cultivate Elite Pine trees that express the best combination of traits, then producing these trees for our customers through our proprietary production technology.

Cutting Edge Breeding Techniques for Improved Pine Seedlings ArborGen SuperTree Seedlings® include the mostly widely grown tree species in the commercial forestry industry, such as Loblolly Pine, Radiata Pine and Eucalyptus. We continue to enhance the traits of these species, including growth rates, yields, stress-tolerance, uniformity, wood quality and processing efficiency.

Through innovations in both conventional breeding and biotechnology, we develop high-value seedling products that significantly improve the productivity of a given acre of land by enabling our customers to grow trees that yield more wood per acre with greater consistency and quality in a shorter period of time.

We develop improved seedlings for purpose grown commercial plantations. Purpose grown trees are planted, maintained and harvested for a particular purpose. These “crops” of trees meet the criteria and needs of environmentalists, forest-dependent communities, and the needs of the global community by providing a renewable resource that relieves pressure on native forests by improving the productivity of working forests.
