Description

At its founding, Arch Capital Group Ltd., then known as Risk Capital Holdings, was created to provide both reinsurance and other forms of capital to insurance companies and other insurance-related entities. Arch started with an initial public offering in September, 1995. Five years later, on May 5, 2000, Arch sold Risk Capital's reinsurance book of business, but retained its surplus lines insurance company, Arch Excess & Surplus Insurance Company, and its reinsurance and insurance company domiciled in the United States.
