History & Vision In 1986, two Washington architects–William R. Drury and Carl R. Shaw, Jr.–joined forces to set up a collaborative architectural firm that would be committed to improving the quality of design. Having studied at the College of Architecture at Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, a common commitment for excellence in design existed. The vision and values of these founding partners continue to sustain the success of Architecture, Incorporated today. Since its founding, Architecture, Incorporated has grown to become a national practice.
