ArteWorks was founded by Matt Foster originally as a web design firm, hence our name. However, the focus of the business soon changed as search engine optimization began to gain prominence in the late 1990's and early 2000's. We became intrigued by the concept of search engine optimization and quickly discovered that we were one of the few companies out there that could actually deliver what was promised to clients, without getting clients into trouble using black hat or useless methodologies. Many companies discourage their employees from participating in forums and chat rooms during work hours. We realize, however, that search engine optimization is a constantly changing field, as the dynamics of rankings and algorithms are changed and updated. We therefore encourage our people to stay abreast of the latest developments in the industry. Our people are active in prominent SEO forums and social networking sites. We read industry news daily and pride ourselves on research which keeps us on the cutting edge of search engine optimization. We have found that through the implementation of common sense techniques which are not in any way intended to be deceptive to the search engines our clients are able to maintain top rankings for years, surviving algorithm update after algorithm update.
