While in law school, Joy was the Treasurer of the American Constitution Society and was a member of various other student organizations such as Charlotte Law Cares, which emphasizes providing pro bono legal services for indigent citizens in the local community. Joy also served as a law clerk for former United States Magistrate Carl Horn of the United States District Court, Western District of North Carolina, as well as interned for the Gaston County Public Defenders’ Office.

Nancy has 32 years of experience in the local courts, primarily practicing in Gaston County for the last 25 years. She has tried numerous cases in all areas of family law. She also serves as a mediator for other lawyers and their clients, attempting to help them settle their cases before trial. Nancy was certified as a mediator in 2005.
