William H. Johnson Foundation for the Arts Invites Applications From African-American Artists The William H. Johnson Foundation for the Arts was established in 2001 in honor of William H. Johnson, an American artist known primarily for his Scandinavian landscapes and his witty and poignant depictions of African-American daily life. Recognizing that minority artists often need economic assistance, the foundation seeks to encourage artists early in their careers by offering financial grants. To that end, the foundation is accepting applications for the 2014 William H. Johnson Prize.

The Arts & Science Council (ASC) was founded in 1958 to run a consolidated United Arts Fund (UAF) drive and serve as a clearing house for cultural events. In 1958, ASC raised $63,000 during its first united arts fund campaign to support eight member organizations - Charlotte Choral Society (Carolina Voices), Charlotte Symphony, Charlotte Nature Museum, Children's Theatre of Charlotte, Mint Museum of Art, Theatre Charlotte, Oratorio Singers (now part of the Charlotte Symphony) and Opera Carolina.

Give N Go is a boutique non-profit consulting firm that specializes in Marketing/PR services to help non-profits. Give n Go will be providing pro-bono services to a group of 10-15 NPO's for a specific project for six months to a year depending on the needs of the organization.

Education and participation in the Arts, Science, and History are vital to the development of our children and our communities. Through advocacy, research, partnerships and professional development, ASC strives to provide and secure more resources and support for education in Charlotte-Mecklenburg. ASC views its role in education as an advocate, a funder and a voice. In these roles, the organization seeks to provide educational content and resources to serve teachers, students and other learners.

The foundation's Emerging Artist Fellowship at the Santa Fe Art Institute was established in 2013 to provide an annual opportunity to an emerging visual artist who is at least 25 years old and who needs time and space to explore ideas and start new projects. Artist fellows will receive a one-month residency at the Santa Fe Art Institute, which includes a well-appointed room with private bath, well-lit studio space, and a $500 travel stipend.
