Description
The Associated School Boards of South Dakota is a legal corporation representing school districts in South Dakota. It has the authority under SDCL 13-8-10.1 and 13-8-10.2 to collect dues and assist school districts in the management of its schools. ASBSD activities are determined and directed by its members through a board of directors, consisting of 18 members elected by the entire membership for staggered four year terms. Any school board of any public school district in South Dakota or any board of education governing elementary or secondary education may become a member by a majority vote and payment of annual dues. ASBSD is a nonpartisan organization. Its members work to improve public education. Since its organization, ASBSD has been a member of the National School Boards Association and has delegates in attendance at its annual meeting.
